Gerrit van Kouwen won the Marlborough British Formula 3 Championship Race which supported the 1985 British Grand Prix. He was driving a Ralt RT30, as were runner-up Dave Scott and third-placed Mauricio Gugelmin. Ray Stover qualified in 28th place in his RT3 but didn't make the grid after going into the catch fencing on the warm-up lap
